God’s Greatest Gifts

God’s Greatest Gifts
“The whole room was silent. I could hear the Professor calling out the names of the Students present in the room. First day in college, it was always going to be new faces, weird looks, expectations, and ambitions were seen in all the faces.
“I am going to spend my next four years of life in here “my mind spoke to me. The professor kept calling the names for attendance. “Aravind, Aradhana…… Ajay Roshan” I got up and gave my attendance and sat down in my seat, got my eyes down to the empty notebook.
“Roshan …“the professor called again …since people used to call me Roshan automatically I lifted my hands to say “Present Sir“ with , before my words came out, a guy stood up and said “Yes Sir”. I looked at him. He was cool; I could see calmness in his eyes. Not knowing he was going to make a lot of difference to my life.
“Oh! We have another Roshan in the room is it..?” I wondered and started to concentrate on the things that Professor was explaining on the board. After the class was over a few students got up and introduced themselves to others in the class. I got up and went near to him and said “Hi I am Ajay Roshan! Glad to meet u!” He greeted me with a smile and introduced himself.
Since that day Roshan was by my side, be it difficult or happy moments. We won when we were team mates, whatever the event.
Getting a good friend in college is very hard, but God had made it easy for me. Roshan was a guy whom I trusted a lot.
In my four years of college, I had learnt a lot in life, be it academic, or otherwise..!! .
My College life started disastrously with an arrear in the first semester; life has its own style of showing the worse side. Unfortunately for me, my college phase was in this bad patch.
In the first 2 semesters I had 4 papers of arrears. My confidence was shattered. Things around me started to get a bit gloomy. Roshan saw me depressed.
“Is this is all you gonna do? I thought you are a self confident guy; you had something better than other people. I guess you are like people who accept their defeats and do nothing about it.” Roshan said these words looking at me.
These words made me look into his eyes. I learnt that winners are not born but made.
I took things seriously and worked hard to clear these arrears. Next semester I cleared all the papers. Roshan called me up and said about the results.
Next morning, Roshan was there coming to catch the bus, I was there waiting for him. He came and hugged me and said “Dude!!! You rock man!! Yesterday I was so happy!!!! So when is the party? “He asked, with a heart full of joy.
I felt the depth of friendship he had for me. He became closer to me than anyone from that day.
Talking about college life, it would not be without a love story or a crush. Roshan had a secret admirer; fortunately I came to know about her and her crush towards Roshan. Her name was Roshni. She was our college mate; she boarded the bus after our stop. She was a wonderful person to be with. She is a lively person, greeting everybody with a smile. No one can ask for a better friend than her.
Every thing started with the usual teasing in the bus and college. She had developed a liking towards Roshan inside her. Roshan and Roshni together looked like they were made for each other. She was close friend of mine. I have asked her about her crush on Roshan, she denied it as everybody who really had a crush would.
Roshan slowly started to develop a liking towards her. Roshni proposed to him around starting of 6th semester. It took Roshan almost a month to Nod a Yes. I was very happy for them.
Roshan and Roshni was one of the most admirable couple in the college. When they are together I would try to move out from there, to give them privacy. To my surprise either Roshan or Roshni wouldn’t allow me to go. They had small fights for unnecessary things which were cute. Time went on and 6th semester was coming to an end.
The IT companies started their hunt for the employees with their usual aptitude tests, GDs. I could not attend a few companies because of a history of arrears.
Roshan was selected by one of the most reputed software companies.
I got battered and scolded by my parents for not even making to the selection criteria. Roshan supported me in every thing, a motivator when I was down every time. I liked that quality in him .He motivates people when they are down. He helped me to score more than I scored in my last 2 semesters.
I walked out of my college after writing my last exam. I knew there was a different world outside with full of responsibilities.
After coming out of college, he was the guy who was backing me up in every scenario, giving me tips on how to handle interviews.
I applied for off campus drive to each and every company and was waiting for a call from them. I had a point to prove to family. Luckily I got a letter from the same company where Roshan had made it through to take up an exam.
I cleared the screening test and made it to the interview. I said that I have been called for the interview to Roshan and Roshni. Both of them were happy that I made it.
I felt that the interview went on well. I was not pretty sure whether I would get selected or not.
After 2 weeks I got a mail from that company offering me a job.
I called Roshan and Roshni and said about the job offer from the company. The next moment Roshan was shouting aloud with joy and I could not hear anything from Roshni’s end.
Roshan’s voice started to go down and I heard sobbing from both ends. Both of them were shedding tears of joy, even though it was on phone, I could feel their happiness. That second; I felt I was the luckiest man on the earth.”
I flipped the pages of my diary and closed it. I felt a hand over my shoulder. It was Roshan and Roshni was standing near by. “Reading Something?? “He questioned me. I gave a smile and nodded a yes and said” A story!”
“What story? Can I see that Ajay? “Roshni tried to get the diary.
I took the diary out of her reach and smiled and said “You can, but not now!!”
“Ok!” she gave a sigh of anxiety
“Ajay! Let’s Go! Come on! The Temple will close in some 30 minutes. Let’s go “
“Ok” I got up and started to walk with them. We reached the temple in some time. A Sadhu there was giving a speech about GOD”. he asked his disciples” What do you think god has gifted for you?”
I asked that question to myself. I could arrive at only one answer “A person, who is not related to you by blood, sheds a tear of joy when you achieve something. That person is God’s greatest gift.”
I looked up and saw two Greatest Gifts from God.
